The store originally opened with Native Discount Gas and convenience store items like snacks and drinks. As time went on and customer demand increased, they expanded their selection to include crafts like blankets, mugs, purses. In 2006, they changed their video rental area into a pizza/bakery section serving up fresh pizzas and other baked goods.
In addition to providing essential goods and services that are hard to come by in such a rural area, Johnny’s on the Rez quickly became known for its friendly atmosphere and willingness to go above and beyond for customers. It wasn't uncommon for locals or travelers passing through town to be welcomed into this little corner store like old friends or family members!
